Solid-Shelf Rack Protection
Identifying when the storage load itself changed the protection requirements inside the racks.
The project
A plastics storage arrangement required reevaluation after clarification of the applicable solid-shelf interpretation. Even with overhead sprinkler protection present, the way loads occupied the racks affected whether additional protection was needed.
Our approach
WFPE revised the report to address the interpretation, clarify commodity packaging, and incorporate idle pallet storage. The evaluation considered rack configuration, flue spaces, sprinkler clearance, and the additional in-rack protection required for the evaluated loads. The revised conclusion was tied to installation of those improvements.
What we delivered
The report established a conditional path to compliance, identifying the in-rack sprinkler work necessary for the described arrangement. It did not present overhead protection alone as sufficient or imply that the recommended installation had already been completed.
