Retail Distribution Sorting Operations
Evaluating merchandise while it moved through sorting and temporary floor storage.
The project
A distribution operation received packaged merchandise for sorting and delivery to retail locations. WFPE evaluated the commodities and the handling arrangement, including differences between natural-fiber and synthetic products.
Our approach
The assessment considered the cartons, palletized piles, sorting tables, and limits on stacked storage. It connected those conditions with the existing sprinkler protection and life safety provisions. The described operation was assessed as a specific flow of goods with defined storage practices.
What we delivered
WFPE delivered an occupancy and commodity letter documenting that operating basis. The report established the product and storage assumptions used in the evaluation and identified changes to those conditions as reasons for another review.
