Residential Sprinkler Pressure Analysis
Identifying why a supply could meet site fire flow while still needing pressure support for building sprinklers.
The project
A residential development needed its available water supply evaluated against both hydrant and sprinkler demands. WFPE used the supplied flow test and developing site plans to examine the different requirements.
Our approach
The analysis modeled the fire service arrangement and the more demanding sprinkler conditions. It found that the evaluated hydrant demand and a separate support building could be served by the available supply, while other building sprinkler demands required added pressure. A proposed pump arrangement was then evaluated.
What we delivered
WFPE delivered a water supply report distinguishing the demands that the public supply could support from those requiring pumping. The result provided a targeted planning basis rather than treating all buildings and systems as having the same supply needs.
