Refrigerated Rack Conversion Review
Identifying the missing hydraulic information needed before a refrigerated rack conversion could be confirmed.
The project
A refrigerated warehouse proposed replacing existing selective racks with a different rack configuration. The facility already had ceiling and in-rack sprinklers, but the change required a new assessment of how those systems would protect the storage.
Our approach
WFPE reviewed the proposed racks, existing protection information, and commodity basis. The evaluation found that the overhead hydraulic criteria could not be confirmed from the available documents. The report identified the protection criteria to be evaluated and recommended obtaining the missing plans or surveying and hydraulically calculating the system.
What we delivered
The findings report established what still had to be verified before compliance could be determined. It gave the team a defined next step, avoiding an unsupported assumption that existing in-rack sprinklers automatically suited the proposed conversion.
