Packaging Distribution Storage Evaluation

Evaluating a varied packaging inventory against rack, pile, and sprinkler protection conditions.

The project

A packaging distributor planned to store products ranging from corrugated materials to items with substantial plastic content. WFPE evaluated how those differences affected commodity classification and the storage arrangement within an existing sprinklered warehouse.

Our approach

The review considered assembled and unassembled packaging, rack and floor storage, storage height, clearance, and the existing early suppression fast response sprinkler system. It also addressed shelving characteristics and container restrictions associated with the evaluated protection approach. These details tied the inventory to the physical arrangement of the warehouse.

What we delivered

WFPE documented the commodity classifications and storage conditions in an occupancy and commodity letter. The deliverable provided a basis for the proposed distribution use and identified the assumptions that would need another review if the inventory or storage methods changed.
