Packaged Goods Storage Strategy
Evaluating how packaging and rack arrangements affected the protection basis for stored goods.
The project
A warehouse’s inventory included products with different packaging configurations. WFPE evaluated the contents and packaging together because changes in cartons, bags, or plastics could affect the commodity classification and the corresponding protection criteria.
Our approach
The review considered rack and floor storage, existing early suppression fast response sprinkler protection, and the conditions governing the proposed arrangement. It also addressed rack-related provisions, access, and life safety. Connecting these elements made the evaluation specific to the products and the way they would be stored.
What we delivered
WFPE prepared an occupancy and commodity classification report documenting the assessed inventory and storage conditions. The report established the basis of the evaluation and the need to revisit it if commodities or storage methods changed.
