Mobile Storage & Egress
Evaluating a warehouse that used portable carts and shelving in place of a uniform rack arrangement.
The project
A distributor planned to store building components on mobile carts, with smaller parts on shelves and in bins. WFPE evaluated the storage method alongside the product composition and the need to preserve circulation through the warehouse.
Our approach
The assessment considered metal products, foam-containing components, original packaging, and limited maintenance supplies. Cart placement and aisle provisions were part of the evaluation so the operating arrangement would preserve the assessed exit paths. The review also addressed the existing sprinkler protection.
What we delivered
WFPE documented the evaluated use and storage conditions in a classification letter. The deliverable connected day-to-day placement of the inventory with the fire protection and life safety assumptions supporting the warehouse operation.
