Mixed Inventory Liquid Hazard Evaluation

Separating ordinary packaged goods from liquid products that required distinct hazard and inventory controls.

The project

A distribution inventory included packaged goods with different liquid contents and packaging. WFPE evaluated how those differences affected commodity classification, storage arrangements, and the quantities permitted within the assessed occupancy.

Our approach

The review considered product composition, container and packaging type, and the distinction between ordinary commodities and materials classified as flammable liquids. It documented separate storage and quantity conditions for the higher-hazard portion of the inventory and considered the existing sprinkler protection alongside those assumptions.

What we delivered

WFPE prepared an occupancy and commodity classification report defining the evaluated inventory and its operating limits. The deliverable gave the owner a basis for managing changes in product mix without treating all packaged products as having the same fire protection requirements.
