Mixed Flooring Storage Protection
Evaluating a mixed flooring inventory where one storage type needed criteria beyond the usual commodity tables.
The project
A distribution tenant planned to store flooring products with substantially different fire characteristics. WFPE evaluated the inventory by product and storage method, including materials that required a separate protection reference.
Our approach
The assessment classified the ordinary commodities and plastic products, then considered rolled material storage using the applicable loss-prevention guidance. Rack arrangement, clearances, and distinct storage limits were evaluated against the existing sprinkler system. The report documented why one blanket storage assumption would not address the entire inventory.
What we delivered
WFPE provided an occupancy and commodity report defining the evaluated storage conditions for the different products. It established a specific basis for the proposed arrangement and the need to revisit the assessment if product types or storage methods changed.
