Metal Fabrication Facility Planning
Evaluating a proposed fabrication operation alongside its storage, welding materials, and fire protection provisions.
The project
A facility plan combined office space, metal fabrication, and storage. WFPE evaluated these uses together to document how the proposed operation related to occupancy classification, sprinkler protection, and life safety requirements.
Our approach
The assessment considered the metal products, storage arrangements, and gases associated with fabrication. We reviewed the proposed sprinkler protection and the occupancy and separation provisions relevant to the use. The material quantities and operating descriptions formed part of the basis for the hazard evaluation.
What we delivered
WFPE delivered an occupancy and commodity classification report describing the evaluated operation and its protection assumptions. The report provided a coordinated basis for the proposed use and made changes in materials or storage conditions a reason to revisit the analysis.
