Manufacturing Storage Height Transitions
Accounting for changes in building height when evaluating protection for a manufacturing and storage operation.
The project
A manufacturing tenant planned to store metal and plastic-containing products in a building with differing ceiling heights. WFPE evaluated how the commodity and storage conditions related to the sprinkler protection across those areas.
Our approach
The review considered rack heights, aisles, clearance, and the sprinkler criteria associated with each building-height condition. It also addressed the transition between areas with different protection requirements. The analysis connected the physical building configuration with the proposed production and storage use.
What we delivered
WFPE documented the evaluated arrangement and protection basis in an occupancy and commodity report. The deliverable gave the project team defined criteria for the storage areas and their transitions, with changes in inventory or layout requiring reevaluation.
