Manufacturing Occupancy Consulting

Connecting manufacturing operations, stored materials, and sprinkler protection in one occupancy evaluation.

The project

A manufacturing tenant needed its proposed operations evaluated alongside the storage of raw materials, finished products, and packaging. WFPE considered how those uses fit within the building’s occupancy, life safety, and fire protection provisions.

Our approach

The evaluation addressed commodity classification and the relationship between the storage arrangements and the existing sprinkler protection. We considered the operating conditions and life safety provisions within the assigned scope, documenting the assumptions that supported the assessed use. This connected the production activity with the inventory and storage conditions that also influence fire protection requirements.

What we delivered

WFPE prepared an occupancy and commodity classification letter establishing the evaluated operating and storage conditions. The report made clear that material changes to the products or storage methods would require reevaluation. It provided a defined basis for the proposed use rather than an open-ended approval of future operations.
