High-Hazard Warehouse Conversion

Identifying the building changes needed when a chemical inventory exceeded ordinary occupancy quantity limits.

The project

A warehouse tenant’s proposed inventory included hazardous materials above the limits used for an ordinary storage occupancy. WFPE evaluated the implications of that inventory for the building’s classification and protection provisions.

Our approach

The report identified the relevant hazardous occupancy basis and described needed changes to separation, spill control, and containment. It connected the material classifications and quantities to the construction and protection measures required for the proposed use. The evaluation also distinguished closed storage from mixing or open-use activities.

What we delivered

WFPE delivered recommendations defining the modifications needed to support the operation. The report established a path for design and review; it did not represent the proposed construction or protection improvements as already completed.
