Food Service Distribution Storage
Evaluating how product packaging changed the protection basis within a food-service distribution inventory.
The project
A distributor planned warehouse storage for packaged food and beverage products. WFPE assessed the inventory by product and packaging, recognizing that plastic crates and other packaging could change the commodity classification.
Our approach
The review considered racks, palletized piles, flue spaces, aisles, and storage clearance. Those conditions were evaluated against the existing sprinkler system and life safety provisions. The analysis connected the varied inventory with the actual storage methods described for the tenant space.
What we delivered
WFPE delivered a classification report documenting the evaluated storage and protection basis. It provided a clear set of assumptions for the proposed use and identified changes in products, packaging, or arrangement as reasons for reevaluation.
