Flex Development Water Supply Options
Comparing fire water storage scenarios while a flex development’s building protection approach was still being defined.
The project
A proposed flex development had a limited available water supply and an unresolved decision about sprinkler protection. WFPE examined how the fire water strategy could change under different building protection scenarios instead of assuming one final design had already been selected.
Our approach
The preliminary analysis compared the fire flow and storage considerations for sprinklered and unsprinklered buildings. It considered the relevant fire code and alternative water supply criteria, together with the potential role of a dedicated storage tank, refill arrangements, and pumping.
What we delivered
WFPE prepared an early planning analysis that outlined the demand scenarios and information needed to develop the supply approach. The deliverable supported design decisions; it was not a claim that a final tank size or completed fire protection installation had been approved.
