Fleet Maintenance Occupancy Review
Establishing the fire protection basis for maintenance activities, parts storage, and service fluids.
The project
A remodeled facility was intended for fleet maintenance activities with associated parts and fluid storage. WFPE evaluated how the proposed operation fit the building’s occupancy and fire protection provisions.
Our approach
The review addressed the commodities and packaging, storage of tires and parts, and the existing sprinkler design criteria. We evaluated service fluids and other materials against the applicable quantity limits, distinguishing the operating assumptions that supported the occupancy classification. Storage heights and arrangement were part of that same evaluation.
What we delivered
The resulting classification letter documented the proposed maintenance use and its storage and material limits. It provided a defined operating basis for the facility without extending the analysis to changes in inventory, maintenance processes, or storage arrangements that had not been evaluated.
