Distribution Sprinkler Design
Connecting the available water supply, sprinkler layout, and hydraulic calculations in an engineered distribution facility design.
The project
For a distribution facility, sprinkler design has to connect the protection requirements inside the building with the water available outside it. WFPE’s assignment brought those parts together in a coordinated engineering package, beginning with the code and water supply basis and carrying through to the system drawings.
Our approach
Our work included code review and hydrant flow testing, followed by sprinkler layouts, riser design, hydraulic calculations, and CAD details. The flow test informed the supply side of the design; the calculations and drawings documented how the proposed system would serve the facility. Developing those elements together gave the project team a common basis for the sprinkler work.
What we delivered
WFPE delivered an engineered sprinkler design package combining layouts, calculations, and installation details. The engagement demonstrates our role in developing the technical basis and documentation for a distribution facility’s fire protection system.
