Concealed Residential Fire Barriers
Establishing what could be verified when separating walls had already been covered by finishes.
The project
Fire-resistance-rated separating walls in a residential project had been concealed before the necessary inspection. The completed finishes limited what could be confirmed visually, making access to the underlying construction an essential part of the evaluation.
Our approach
WFPE inspected selective openings and compared the exposed conditions with the expected assembly details. The accessible areas revealed discrepancies, while other portions remained concealed. We documented both the observed issues and the additional openings and follow-up work needed to evaluate the remaining construction.
What we delivered
The inspection report established an actionable path for further investigation and correction. Its conclusion reflected the limits of the available access: selective observations could identify issues, but could not establish compliance of the entire concealed wall system. Additional verification remained part of the required work.
