Community Facility Water Supply
Planning fire water storage and pumping for a community facility without a nearby public supply.
The project
A proposed community facility needed sprinkler protection and a water source for firefighting, but public water was not available near the site. WFPE evaluated how an on-site supply could address the building’s protection demands.
Our approach
The analysis considered the building use, fire flow, sprinkler demand, and the storage needed for the evaluated arrangement. It also addressed access to the stored water for firefighting and the relationship between the tank, pumping, and site layout. These were treated as connected design criteria rather than isolated equipment selections.
What we delivered
WFPE recommended a tank and pump arrangement and documented the assumptions supporting that recommendation. The report gave the design team a basis for developing the on-site fire protection supply, with changes to the building or site conditions requiring reevaluation.
