Combined Sprinkler & Standpipe Supply
Separating public supply, sprinkler pumping, and fire department support in a combined system evaluation.
The project
A residential building required a coordinated assessment of hydrant, sprinkler, and manual wet standpipe demands. Each depended on a different operating condition, making it important to distinguish what the public supply could provide from the pressure support expected elsewhere in the system.
Our approach
WFPE analyzed the proposed utility network and sprinkler demand against the available supply, then evaluated pumping to address the identified limitation. The standpipe analysis separately considered fire department pumper performance and the pressure required at the remote outlets under the report’s stated assumptions.
What we delivered
The report documented the demand cases and their respective supply arrangements. This gave the project team a basis for coordinating the sprinkler pump and fire department connection without treating the manual standpipe operating condition as identical to the automatic sprinkler demand.
