Automated Distribution Egress Review
Connecting automated handling equipment, storage protection, and the paths people use to leave the building.
The project
A parts distributor planned automated storage and conveyor handling within a warehouse. WFPE evaluated the stored materials and sprinkler protection together with the effect of the equipment arrangement on occupant travel.
Our approach
The report reviewed commodity classifications, limited aerosol inventory, storage provisions, and the layout of the handling systems. It addressed a proposed crossover to shorten exit travel for people working beside the conveyors. That connected the operating layout to the life safety evaluation.
What we delivered
WFPE documented the evaluated storage and egress conditions in an occupancy and commodity letter. The deliverable gave the team a coordinated basis for the planned operation, including the access arrangement needed to support the assessed travel paths.
